Inexpensive Laptop?

I have gotten over a dozen refurbs from Egg for customers...I hate spending money (even other peoples) on laptops unless they really need one so I try to go with these when I can.

I know it says out of stock but just click auto notify and you will get one!

And FWIW HP/Compaqs are complete garbage inside and last BY FAR the least amount of time in the real world. Complete jumk and they should be ashamed for selling them....look at their market share now...it sucks!

I can't say anything bad about Toshiba...but a lot of techs dislike them......I felt they were the best option at bestbuy last I checked...

Dell Latitude all the way though if you can IMO....and the money you save by going dell refurb could be spent on a 3 pack of Office 2010.I think it is like 119.00

My buddy turned me on to tigerdirect.com about 5-6 years ago and I have saved Alot of $$$ buting from them. My last hp laptop worked great for about 3 years and then melted down. Good pricing ALWAYS buy the extended protection plan.

Just find a broken computer, maybe a friend or family member has one hiding somewhere. Or Ebay. Figure out whats broken, maybe the hard drive. Get a new(used) part and put it in. Then you can download another operating system like "linux" from the internet. Upload the new operating system onto the computer.

I just did this for a friend, total cost $40. I really like the linux system. In my opinion windows is so bad anything else can only be an improvement.

Well, maybe someday when a distro of linux captures a quarter of the market share Windows owns, we'll consider that as a serious comment.

TBH man, any deal you can find in the budget for a laptop that meets your needs is a deal. I mean, you can spend 10 hours a day hunting for a deal and save 20 bucks here or there, but realistically it's not worth your time looking for the perfect deal. Just hit up Logicbuy, slickdeals, something like that and go for the lowest price.

I got my toshiba 3 or 4 years ago from walmart on a speicel for christmas. I think I only payed 249.99 but I had to wake up early to get one of the first 5... that was the speical. I love it. I never have had any problems with and its still running very strong. My parents allways buy the really nice hp's ($800-$1000 range) They have gone through 3 of them in the last 5 years. HP's = junk!

I had a 2007 HP laptop that lasted me all through college. It was an awesome tough little laptop.

I sold it last summer for $400 on Craigslist (price way to high for a used laptop) and bought a DM4-2070US that I am using now. I love it really really really nice laptop. My only complaint is it doesn't have the back lit keys. Not really needed, just think it would be fun. Got the laptop for $600 with ~$130 MIR and a $100 "student" visa gift card.

I bought my girlfriend a broken laptop on craigslist. Fixed the screen and its now a nice little C2D laptop. Best $50 laptop ever.
