Installing trim...Couple Questions

So my new Thrust Trim Kit came in today and and I began the install. I separated the pieces and it looks like there is a gray sealant between them. What kind of sealant is this? Any other tricks to the install I should know about?? Also will I need to cut a notch in the back of the ski to clear jet stream when the trim is pulled up? Thanks!!

the grey stuff is just grease . it is suggest to help extend bushing life and smooth action

by the way sure you use red loctite on all those bolts again when you reassemble very important!!!
