I went to get a few quotes today and the two places i checked boat us and progressive will only insure it up to the Blue book value. Progressive also will only do a $1000 duductable which is the same as the 1000$ KBB on my 750sx. THAT MAKES NO SENSE.

so anyway i just wanted to see if any body has theres insured for the dollar amount you have in the boat and not the blue book. Right now i guess i will just make sure its behind the truck if any thing every happins. lol but even then i would only get $1000 back.

Thanks

I insured my 2006 Kawi 800 under my house policy with Liberty Mutual. They put value of ski and ask how much extra I put in it . I said $5000 in parts and labor. So I got it insured for $9000

In Alberta, Canada I only had my SXR insured and had full replacement cost for $350/yr. I was not able to find a carrier in Alberta that would insure a modified craft so my GSXL and 92 SJ were not insured simply because no one would insure them. "Modified", was deemed as anything modified from stock so basically anything other than a new impeller ruled me out.

When I was still in British Columbia I had both my SJ and GSXL added to my house policy for $325/yr each. The policy would only pay out for theft if they were stolen from my locked garage while they were locked to the trailer and the trailer hitch was locked. Basically, they weren't paying out for nothing ever, so why bother have insurance?

I haven't looked into insurance in South Carolina yet. Let me know what you find out. Most of the policies I found were very expensive and would never pay out anyway so I just practice due diligence. Keep the skis locked up at all times and keep them out of sight and out of mind.

Insurance was way simpler in my home town. In high school a kid broke into my truck and stole my stereo. I found him, broke his arm and took my stereo back. I never had a problem with theft again. You sure as hell wouldn't get away with that these days. lol

Jordan, You guys down for Hugo this weekend?

I am surprised more states don't require it. Don't pretty much all states require liability insurance for driving your car?

I just try and not think about something bad happening to my skis.

i use progressive as well
i have a nice policy on both skis, full coverage, agreed upon value, with receipts on hand

having something is better than nothing..... boats are expensive, not to mention if you hit someone... like swimming..
we've had a few close encounters so better to be safe

In Arkansas anything below 50 horsies you dont have to have any insurance, even liability. Crazy huh? My 90 sn 650 ski is rated at 50 exact, although it has a 701....
Its best to have some kind of insurance, maybe life insurance if you ride surf.

Homeowners or renters insurance seems to be way cheaper than getting it elsewhere. That said I haven't put my skis on it, I probably will this summer.

U.S. And Canada are so different? You guys usually sue everyones ass for everything?! It's irresponsible to not have liabilty insurance and against Canadian federal law. I pay $450 for the year, 1 milliondollar liability with $500 deductable for comprehensive / collision should anything happen. 2007 SJ valued$7000

I would put it on my renters insurance but i kinda live in the barracks and the ski is stored at someone else house so i am not sure how that would work.

I talked to progressive and the only way they said the would give me more then blue book value was if the ski is a 06 or newer.
