Interchangeable Crankcase?

Hey guys, need some help.
I want to rebuild the engine in my 94 550sx and have gotten conflicting answers with my research.
Can I use the crankcase from a js550 (piston port) engine with my Sx Reed cylinder jugs?

No, your reed motor intakes into the crank case, piston port intakes into the cylinder. Two completely different motors.

It intakes on the Cylinders on the 550, the kawi 650 and 750 intakes on the case.

if I am not mistaken, the bolt spacing is different for the cylinder to cases.
If that is correct, then no, it would not work.
