Custom/Hybrid Is it possible to build a BOB ski on a 9K budget

So last year i ran a sxr800 and i gotta say i love my ski just am itching to do rolls and flips off small boat waves with ease but my ski is so mint i dont want to cut it all up for trim so its being sold and a BOB hull is going to be the start of my new project.....Is it possible to stay within 9k with a used bob hull from the forums here im also trying to finish and yamaha rhino UTV project so the 9k is cutting it close after the ski sells....im used to all kawasaki type builds i built my last ski before the sxr and i was hoping i could go with a kawi motor and pump or do i have to run hybrid with yama motor and kawi pump.....i have a local guy whose got tons of sxi parts in his shop and it would be easy to gather everything and even build a fresh motor....looking for some input on motor and pump options what you guys running

if you do a yamaha based one. yes. parts are plentiful and older stuff can be bought cheap, then upgrade later. you could get a 701 or 760 with electronics for fair prices. used carbon gen 2 bobs are going from 3800-5000 depending on what comes with them. you could get an older 144 pump from someone that upgraded to a mag for a good price. jetmaniac can hook up all you misc. stuff. tank and waterboxes, straps, bolts, hoses blah blah blah. it can be done. when mines done im expecting to have a little over 12 in it. but its got a mag pump, xmetal pole, and im waiting on the new true performance motor to come out and im going to try one of those. but again, buy good used yami stuff, upgrade later. completely possible.

You could build one for that price if you can get the parts cheap enough and maybe a used hull. The parts list adds up quick tho, the little :):):):) is what gets you. Or buy jacks boat, good deal if its in good shape especially.

I had less than 6k into my carbon Gen 1 BOB. I paid $3000 for the hull. That was complete with a ported 5mm stroker, Epic ignition, WDK billet pole with riser bars, trim, OEM pump with Hooker prop, Mint b-pipe, BlackJacks, etc. I honestly don't see how some ppl spend / ask so much for these entry level AM builds. IMO, if a used ski with a hull that retails at around 5 grand is listed for 10k it better be complete with a nicely built big bore or larger, total loss, and at minimum a Solas Mag in it.

Ok so I'm thinking of going with a new gen2 with a steering rrp kit from them for 1800 and a new short block 701 but that's it from the ski clinic that puts me at 7k is it possible to piece the rest together I can do 10k...I just feel better about knowing this thing is coming right from the factory to me not riden by anyone...thoughts on how else I should go about this I'm new to the am hull thing

Kawi motor makes way more power than the Yamis. The problem is the smaller pump that the sxr has stock(140) vs the yami stock (144).

Go kawi based but buy a 145mag and call it a day. It will flip an aftermarket hull all day.

If you are in CT lets talk, we have a few of Tigercrafts hulls coming our way.

That looks like an interesting ski...the only reason I was going yama motor and pump was this site is full of used sj stuff and me being on a budget works with that...it's impossible to find a wet pipe for a sxr used I haven't seen a good deal on one since I got my ski and for the pumps the same story seems to be easier to find the yamaha stuff cheaper...I've built two sxis and owned this sxr so I open to trying the yamaha platform... Am I looking at this the wrong way?
