Is it possible to paint an SJ with out re-turfing it.

I want to repaint my SJ this winter and change the graphics, but I have very nice turf on the tray and bond line and I hate to have to re do it.
I know I could tape it off, but I'm not thinking I'd like the results. Anyone do this? How did it turn out?

Possible compromise is very carefully peal up just the edges of the turf, paint, then stick the edges back down.

Sketchy, but if you are REALLY careful about it you can probably get away with it.

Odds of tearing the edge, or having an edge that doesn't stick down are high, but not impossible to get a decent result.

It can be done, it just comes back to prep quality. The more time you invest in doing a really good job with the taping the better your results will be. I've repainted my ski with the turf and engine still in tact. I didn't go too crazy on the prep but I liked how it turned out. I think I have photos of how I did it at home. I'll check when I get back. But basically I just used a really good quality painter's tape, took all the time it needed to get my edges as finely setup as possible and upside down taped a border in the engine compartment leaving a stick ledge to lay paper on then taped in a bunch of paper to cover the engine compartment.

Update:
Here is a photo of when I was prepping to repaint. Granted I didn't have rail turf to cover I did still have tray turf that I didn't want to remove because it was already fairly new and in really good shape, plus it was well bonded. But you can see how I taped and papered it all. If I spent a lot more time prepping it I would have had absolutely zero paint on the edge of the turf but there were a few very small spots that got a dusting on the edges only.
