I am starting to undertand the Super Jet bottom hull (on my wife's '94 SN SJ).

But going from the FX-1 to the SJ, I hate the weight of the SJ.

big part of the weight could be that the SN tray is full of water. I pulled 40lbs of wet foam out of mine and the ski rides much lighter/better after doing it. There is a carbon/fiberglass RN clone hull that pops up for sale around Sac every couple years.

A few buddies of mine had laid up three of the hull pictured below about 20 years ago and I believe I actually seen one up for sale somewhere not long ago. Entirely molded off a SN hull they hacked up and tweaked. End goal being a cheap light SJ style hull. They have the first gen bottom deck w/homemade tubbies. I believe this hull dry is about 40-50lbs lighter then the SN give or take and a few inches shorter but it’s so thin there is constantly new stress cracks.
Anyways point of the story it’s leagues ahead of a SN to ride but once you go aftermarket to something really refined (not this gray turd) you won’t want to go back to a SJ (or close to oem SJ) hull Imo.
Defoaming/light weight hood/pole/ smaller gas tank all make a considerable difference and are cheaper options though!

The one I am doing now lost at least 40 lbs when I defoamed it
