So I'm building what is to be the best fx1 on planet earth. I'm at the portion where I'm hacking the pump tunnel of my ski to squeeze in a 144 pump shoe and I have it allll the way down and its sticking out about 3/4 of an inch any thoughts on this ? Iv read I'll have to do some cutting just looking for some positive reinforcement

The question is how well does the part where the intake grate mounts match the bottom of the hull?
Most AM pump shoes require a lot of grinding. But it looks like you still have a lot left to do.

I thought you had to replace the entire pump cavity on FX1's to fit a 144? The one I had was like that, but I didn't build it.

There was just a post on here about this that I read a couple days ago. As long as everything lines up, you just have to grind it down.

I have magical ways of
Cutting it down to be flush with my hull I'm just wanting to make sure I'm on the right track iv read countless pump threads but you know how it is everyone thinks there own situation is special when it comes to chopping there baby lol so
The shoe is down as far as it will go on the bottom side so I guess I'll cut off the excess on top to make it flush out Just for laughs look at my electric bottle pump press ... I'm a problem solver :) image.jpeg

I would get a pump sitting in there before you hack up the shoe. It will tell you quick what way it needs to go. On a typical build you fit the pump an then install the shoe. Imo.

Leave the pump, grind the glass since you have to fix the glass anyway. Before you get ahead of yourself check how your rideplate fits over the pump, I expect it is going to be a problem also.

O it's a problem alright lol unless I'm going for some sort of "air chair" hydro foil designe but good idea on just grind the glass that way I can put any pump into it in the future with out modifying

How are you fitting the 144 pump (modify the pump or the hull)?
If you are going for the "best FX1" I would do it the hard way and glass in an entire pump and intake cavity from a 144 ski.

Wow tensions are high on my innocent questions thread . id like to touch on a few topics
First off I will win the E.C.F.R stab trophy with this ski that is being built as water tight as a frogs ass. I'd like to reference my first stab last year That left me swamped out as I returned from Atlantis as proof of my future victory second of all if I could go back in time (2010?!?)I would change my sn to Aqua-felch-aholic to steel the best of both worlds third. And foremost @yamanube who happens to not be so nube I have limited abilities and resources so I will not be grafting a whole pump
Cavity in " maybe I will " but instead bradly blueprint my current pump area maybe I should have said best fx1 that I will ever own.

Imma take a lot of glass out of the tump tunnel I want to be able to bolt in any 144 pump when I'm done. I need to go down into the pump tunnel toward the tray about 3/8 of an inch which I'm guessing is the thickness of the glass there at the moment

As you may know there are two ways to achieve what you want, one is to weld new mounts on the pump, the other is to modify the hull to accept the pump. The latter is a better choice in my opinion, I wrote out a how-to a while back, find that here:

I had never got a chance to change out the pump shoe, but like others have said, get the pump in first, that will help you set the shoe.

If you possess the skills to grind glass and replace it, you posses the abilities to just install a 144 pump tunnel... I think your problems are beyond the height/ depth of the tunnel, but all so the width.

BTW, why isn't your pump shoe tapped for pump mount bolts? What sort of thrift store pump shoe have you chosen for this endeavor?
