I have no idea what model this is and my google-fu is failing me, YAMAHA is cast into it. Is it any good? better than stock? more than 1/3 as good as a Worx 201? it's only $50 on eBay

if its going for 50 buck on ebay then its probably worth 50 bucks. good deals are hard to come by now days, everyone wants top dollar. my guess is its a painted/coated oem grate.

the guy had quite a few of them for sale, probably found a box full of them in a corner, they look like New Old Stock grates. Who would paint/powdercoat then repackage in yamaha packaging? They probably are OEM but factory aftermarket right?

i really dont know man, there isnt a lot of talk about oem aftermarket here. from the lack of feedback i would guess its nothing special but hey, the pink would look cute!

just a thought tho... sometimes i dont like how the works hangs lower than the hull. i have thought many times about grinding it down a little. for example, in panama city Florida there is a pass where you have to slide 40 ft across sand to get to the beach. with a flush grate its a breeze but with this works i have to hit it WOT and still barely make it some times because it drags so much (i know thats horrible, it makes me cringe too). then there are people who prefer a little less hook up and like the stock grate, helps loosen the ski up on the face of a wave. i have been wanting to try a stock grate, all i know is my works 201.

I'm pretty far from anywhere that would require dragging the ski over sand and as it it now it feels like the hull is just skimming over the water and any amount of chop will cause a loss of hookup. I need a hooker impeller too. But then again I need to repair a bunch of fiberglass on my hull like I need a million dollars. I went ahead and bought it anyways. I also got a Riva groovy on ebay for $50, and it needs a paintjob so I was going to sandblast both of these and try my hand at powdercoating.

I have one on my kids square they work ok. Not as good as a 201 but way better than the stock and also better than the old school westcoast two rail intakes.

it is a "fischer" brand scoop, that yamaha sold as a yamaha aftermarket performance item, back in the day.

they are an OK scoop. not the best, but a good upgrade over stock.

I just PM'd Polish Jet Pilot who posted about a fischer back in 2009 and he said it's got waaay more hookup than the stocker but still slippery enough for some fun.

Fisher cut the ears off a Watercross grate and copied it. The vanes are 1/2" below contour so it works fairly well. Not as good as a Worx201 but better than many older scoop grates that were flush with the bottom. A bargain for $50.

I went from the stock grate to the 201. Immediately noticed all my cavitation issues are in the past and also have instant hook up. I did notice a slight loss in top end speed but Im more in for low end. Happy with the change.
