Long story short, Year ago I smoked a piston. Never really got it going last summer. Tried but had carb issues and just did not care. Went through motor over the winter and got it going in May, still had carb issues but got them worked out at Gil's ride, Had the wrong pop off springs. Later that day the stator cracked. Next ride I had bad cavitation. Replaced the rubber packing for the pump to pump shoe, problem fixed. 10 minutes after i put the ski in the water to test the cavitation (which was fixed) the front piston let go at half throttle, did not sieze, just had the exhaust edge burnt off. Thinking that maybe when the stator came loose it may have advanced and started eating away at the piston, once compromised, 2 rides later finished it off.
I have been plagued by some bad luck over the past 2 years so I decided to go back to my retired TLR cylinder at 82mm. Put the motor together 2 weeks ago but never got time to go out and finish until tonight. Headed out to the shop around 9:30 to just put the stator, bendix and such on, next thing I know I have the motor bolted in. Then the carbs, then electrical box bolted up. Now let me put the fuel lines on. Guess what, These Fuel Lines Biz crap lines are just that crap. I installed them in may and they are hard as a rock. I replaced the 2 intake lines with some more of that crap and will be ordering some OEM in the near future (Winter most likely).
Yeah, it is 11:27 at this point, but why not.
Hit the button, watch the fuel lines prime up and BOOM.
It cranked right up. hope to take it out Friday. I have a 10-16 Hooker that I am sure will be to tall but may be trading it for a 9-15 soon.
Maybe I might just get a ride in or two this year after all without it breaking.
