NATURAL SELECTION

The other was in a lake near Orlando. The driver took a passenger that could not swim and did not have a life jacket. One spin out later....
Passenger drowned.

The problem is that all everyone hears is jet ski related death.
They don't hear that some irresponsible idiot made bad decisions and was probably trying to show off. That is typically the case.

The bad thing is that we are grouped in the same catagory as all those darwin award winners on sit downs. Shame to hear that news

Maybe I was a little harsh in my first response, no disrespect for the dead intended. It is sad that someone loses their life in a senseless accident. Unfortunately the public tends to stereotype everyone into the same group when stories like this hit the media. We have all seen our share of idiots with a new 150 hp couch hit the water like a brainless fool. Immediately doing 360s in the no wake zone and riding like the steering cable came loose at top end. Like Nick said "Education is the answer".:banghead:

Dude.. not all sit down riders are idiots!

Lets not classify the idiots with sit down riders... riding a couch does not mean your an idiot.. just that you can't jump as high!

I have seen many an idiot on a stand up as well..! Stupid is as stupid does!

One here yesterday...
A 11 year old girl did a fast U turn without looking first and slammed into a boat, done deal. The age law in AZ for operating a PWC is 12 yr. I really feel bad for her parents.
They have to feel very bad about this..

You mean there wasn't a 12 year-old warning sticker on the ski?

We lost a 15 and a 18 year old kid 2 days ago. Swimming on the beach in 8 footers in blue jeans. They got sucked out I guess.

For sure Idok. Even though there are way more sitdowns in this world,
I'll bet if there were equal amounts, it would still be sitdowns that have the most accidents.

Its easy to go really fast in a straight line then turn with tunnel vision on...

From Monday's Boston Herald:

Jet Skier Drowns in Lynn Harbour

A Lynn man drowned yesterday after strong winds and choppy seas knocked him off his Jet Ski while he was crusing along Lynn harbor with two friends, according to the Essex District Attorney's office.

Ramon Meraz, 42, who was swallowed up by the waves after his Jet Ski tipped over, was pulled ashore by nearby boaters and two other Jet Skiers, but could not be revived.

there was a small craft advisory yesterday due to strong winds between 25 to 30 mph. Meraz was not wearing a life jacket. State Police are investigating the accident.

It's not an acciedent if he wasn't wearing a PFD, It's natural selection
