Looks like it is surf board heritage, so it is fin based and totally body lean steered.

Very simple drive train. Apparently it does have a jet pump:

Get an innovative jet ski designer like @Aquaholic @JetManiac or @waxhead in there to up the engine cc and add an exhaust steering nozzle and it could take over our sport.

And that is a good thing.

I have seen a few used ones for sale near me in the 6 to 7k range. I have been tempted but always talked myself out of it. It looks like they are really hard to sell. Not a very large demand for them and they are expensive. I'm curious if the handlepole can be put on an older board.

I think the handle pole would be sick. Maybe it's cause I used to skate. But I feel like his could be perfected in a way that lends itself to some serious freestyle ability. Price reflects the market. It's small. More people give it a try. Price comes down.

Weight affects everything negatively pretty much. The lighter. The better

I have a jetsurf adventure. Steep learning curve (or maybe so if your older like me?) But really Fun once you get it!
First impression of the pole on one, is about the same as the first time I saw a scooter at a skate park..........
guess you better be wearing Pink to be riding it! No! Just No! Next thing you know someone will be putting a pole on a OneWheel Lame!

The jet surf rope that goes to the nose is like a gimped handle pole that you can’t push down the nose with anyway. I still think the JS platform is cooler, but I’d rather have a jet surf with a handle pole than a new sxr or SJ. Way more practical thing to take out on the water than a sea pig.

Scooters do badass crazy stuff. Props to those riders that develop skills. Could be worse. They could be siting on their lazy ass online. Or in a boat.

This a a feasible option for electric freestyle fun. The craft is small enough that battery power would flick in right out of the water. Granted this one is gas. Bur give it time. This definitely wouldn't be for fat or out of shape people. The majority.
