A few of us in the Northwest had a ride in July at a small reservoir with a campground.

A few weeks after the ride, Dayton got a letter by the Department of Interior.
See attached picture.

I might add here that the park guy came down only a couple of times, expression his dissatisfaction with us being there - but that was it. Cop even came down (at Park guy's request) to check things out, but he thought everything was cool. The event itself was pretty uneventful - but the reservoir is usually a spot for old guys fishing & camping.
I don't think we're welcome back.

thats messed up. if it was me i write a letter back explaining that it was a charity event, who it was for and the circumstances around it. even if it gets you nowhere, the satisfaction that you make them fell like at @SSholes they are would make me feel better.

There is no way that I would leave a letter like that unanswered.

Maybe the head guy should be informed that it was a friendly get together/picnic in honor of a young couple who passed away in a tragic way.
I would also let it be known that the park ranger on site that day was extremely disrespectful to family members of the couple being honored.

May not be 100% true but I would certainly take a jab at the douche.

I think you have a good point on that. That letter is really a kick in the nut's.

The letter was addressed to Dayton (NWDayton, of NWFreeride). What he does with it is his deal.

It was pretty obvious to all of us there that the park guy didn't like us. He called the cops, and that didn't bring the results he wanted.
I can't speak for anything that went on at night - the spot was only 45 minutes from home for me, so I slept at home.
It was probably a major incompatibility between the regular crowd at that spot and us.

My home away from home.
Bummer for you guys. Sounded like it was a good times with good friends to me. Too bad for douches! Hopefully you will hear back from the guy that received the letter.

Our campsite got busted a few yrs back, for most of the same stuff. We had some younger people with us that got out of hand. The ranger came and talked to us about it, before he called the cops. He's always a cool ranger, but had to do it cuz some out of towners made a big fuss over it, and already called the cops, so the ranger had to follow through. Before he left he asked if we could at least not let them see us urinating in public. I asked him (as I pissed myself in my board shorts purposely) "Is this OK? I don't think they can see it." Then asked him to come by for a cold one when his shift ended. He did. Hope he's still there this summer.

Sounds like a bunch of young jet skiers.

Many who aren't young by a calendar are young at heart. There was quite a few people in their 40's. It wasn't anywhere near as bad as the letter makes it sound. Some younger people did stay up late drinking until like 4AM but they were quiet about it.

When we were riding there were continuous dirty looks from everyone fishing. We were destroying their redneck paradise.
