JetSurfing

I just read about 4 threads about defining freeride and there is no consensus on if it means surf riding or non-organized riding.

The confusion probably stems from the origin of the word Freeriding, which means that there was no set course, goals or rules to abide by. Freeride is also used for a dozen different sports.

I started riding surf in the late 1980s, and got back into it in the last couple years. It was really cool to find this site and see people are into it.

Moto-surf® is a pretty cool name, but to me it sounds like racing in the waves (moto-cross) and is a registered trademark "subject to fines or penalties if such use occurs."

So how about JetSurfing? Pretty self explanatory. Sounds like JetSkiing. There is no current trademark on it. Rolls of the tongue a lot better than Freeride Jetskiing.

Jetsurfing sounds like a areal acrobat maneuver in a jet, or a skydiving maneuver...

I agree about Jerry, he is a very laid back guy and is not gonna do something like sue. He may say some :):):):) to your face if you try to make cash off it.. I have a deal w/. him to use it. I give money to a charity he agrees to. ie "Daytona Motosurf"

What does it matter?
Do we really need all this clarification? I feel like we are splitting hairs, semantics.

Just go ride!

hahahahahahahahhahahah

I think Brad's licence plate says JetSurfr or something similar to that...

I don't really care what you call it. I still refer to it as PWC Freeride or something similar to that.
Mostly I think it is the most fun to do in the surf, but really any intresting place to ride is cool with me. Rapids, big boat wakes, lakes...whatever. Those of us who are lucky enough to live near the ocean get to do a little MotoSurfing. I think Jerry would be stoked if the term caught on.

Don't try and trap me in a funnel of spiraling truths I know semantics. My impeller is out for service and I am beside myself. Jet surf , wave moto , motor assisted surf style, selfish motorized wave masher, 2-stroke smoke wave machine widdler, always make the section power assisted surf vehicle a.m.t.s.p.a.s.v.

So are you trying to come up with a name for surf riders that will be universally accepted? Good luck with that. I always thought that Freeride refered to surf riding and Freestyle refered to flatwater. I just tell people that I'm a surf rider. No matter what you say you do, people not into the sport ALWAYS need more of an explanation anyway

man... i wish i knew what we where doing back before all this terminology started. we just called it riding. and the guys who went off when they rode we called them CRAZY! :fing02:

slutty...you gonna call me back or do the soflo sluts get no love anymore? :1zhelp:

I asked my wife (who only rides a few times a year and never in the surf, yet...) if she knew what Jet Surfing was and she said "Jetskiing in the waves I imagine". I said yeah but it's actually called Freeride Jetskiing and she said "That's Stupid". Her words not mine.

I don't expect any consensus on any terminology, I would just like to call jetskiing in the waves something that makes sense. I like skisurfing and motosurf better than freeride, since competetive freeride is an oxymoron to those familiar with the origin on the term freeride.
