A friend of mine put one on his SXR with the Wet pipe. It really cleaned up his bottom end and made it hit really hard on the bottom.

Is there any downside to using this? Any chance of overheating?

If it drys the water box out at low RPM's then if you have a PVC styled dual exhaust wouldn't it super heat things untill the PVC blew? Just courious I have the PVC exhaust "T" on my old ski and was wondering. I wasn't worried about it with my dry pipe. Becasuse I run no restrictors into the stinger so that it keeps everythign quiet and cool.

They have been running on skis for years.. I got the idea from Darin and mine has been on there for 4 years. It makes a great "T" pipe and it is super cheap. I only spent $20 on the complete front exhaust setup.

PVC is fine if there are no problems. unfortunately, sometimes these machines have problems. overheating your ski sucks. sinking it because it overheated would be plain ridiculous.

why not use a copper T instead. cheap insurance. i think Paul Lehr said he sunk his boat cause something came apart on his front exhaust.

I think that was his exhaust hose that came off the front, leaving about a 2.5in hole in the side of the boat.

I agree but at the time I couldn't weld and haveing someone build somethign like that seemed unreasonable. I neded a "T with a 2.5"x2"x1.5" so that is somethign that you can't find anywhere it is custom and PVC was cheap and simple. Everyone else was running it so I wasn't the first..

And my ski wouldn't sink even if you took the hose off because if it is in the water I am riding it. And if I stop I never leave it. I pay close attention to it's stance in the water beacuse I have gotten something stuck in my scupper and it wouldn't close. Since then I always know it's water level

Used radiator hose bought from a semi service station. I think it was just installed but never used he said it was used but it looked new $5 cash

My complete system is the pvc "T" pipe and I used the stock hose and cut it to fit the "T" in place. Then the used radaitor hose and for the exit I had a body shop friend of mine weld a piece of exhaust pipe to a piece of scrap steel then I screwed it to the inside of the hull and used a spiral saw to cut the hole inside the exhaust pipe.

overheating happens when youre riding. if your engine overheats while riding and the tee melts, the fumes will choke out your engine and you will stall.... then sink from the water rushing in.

....but this is the worst case scenario, of course...... unless youre luke.

...... you do have foam in your ski, right????

:haha:

I think I have more than Luke but I doubt that it would float... I don't have that much. I don't have nose foam and the footholds were never refoamed around so basically it is a high horsepowered rock...LOL.. I might do some foaming this winter...LOL

I have blown an exhaust coupler and I didn't think about that but it does make it run rough untill you can find a piece of drift wood and wedge it in the back edge of the hood and use your hood straps to hold the hood on then you can ride. Heck I ran 1/2 a tank of fuel out on the mississippi river that way with a big piece of drift wood hanging out of the hood. I was subbing and all with the rear of the hood open 4 inches... LOL no worries I have insurance and a BUNCH of it... LOL that is what I pay for it for I guess

OK you threadjacking bastards... what I am wondering is if I stay at low RPM's too long will it overheat by not letting any water in the pipe to cool it? :banghead:

I have read that some peeps do encounter problems, probably in the surf.

I just have a 1.2 seat inline w/the stinger - it keeps the waterbox pretty dry & there's no moving parts....:sneaky:

i ran one for a year or so....I DID notice a differece in a couple of things:

1. noise..it'll make the ski louder
2. slight increase in bottom end...more of just cleaning it up though

make sure its opening though and not just forcing water back thru the overboard pisser...the spring inside that thing is pretty stiff!

you can take the hose off the stinger while the ski is idleing on the trailer on a boat ramp and bump the throttle to see at what rpm its opening. i dont see a problem with it not being opened at low RPMs with a wet pipe.... ive never had a problem and we have 3 boats that are using them.

yeah,.....I just never tried to "tune" it......it never gave me any problems.......

I took it off due to the noise.....TDR + front ex only + jetworks = too much
