Joe ripping around some crappy Jersey waves in 2004 at Asbury Park. Notice the lack of shoes, no straps, no use of holds, no gloves, no wetsuit, no helmet. This guy was a surf-riding legend. Although this wasn't footage of him going off on his own ski, I thought it was pretty damn cool.

Nice to bring that up DJ. Joe brought so much to freeride. For me...he was the total embodiment of what the sport was about. And he was the reason I wanted to do it.

That event was my first time meeting JK. Letting him rip on my old Blue boat was a highlight of my watercraft career.
i wish someone would have warned me about partying with him tho! He simply Killed it on and off the water!

This was the weekend that got me hooked on Freeriding. Partying in Jr.'s old shop in Jersey with the Canadians and Jersey crew, riding surf for the first time, meeting and riding with Joe, it was a legendary weekend. Can't remember what the event was, but there was a Freeride comp, Racing and a Clinic by Joe. It was Asbury Park, correct?
