300/440/550 js300 Starter

I just bought a js300 for next to nothing. The guy told me it needed a new fly wheel which is not a huge deal. So brought it home and some one chopped the engine case up to fit a 550 starter in there, And ended up being the 550 starter just doesnt line up correctly to the gears. So I am having a hell of a time trying to find a 300 starter. Does anyone have one? or has anyone heard of how to make the 550 starter work?



PS how much work is it to just put a 550 into this js300 hull?

Putting a 550 into a js300 hull is really easy. Im pretty sure the only pary is mounting the 550 ebox other than that it is a sweet and simple swap.

No the 550 starter wont work. The 300 motor runs a strange one way clutch set up.

300 Jet Ski starters are easy to repair. The commutator just needs to be cut true, and reassemble.
