Surfriding Just gone single 48 Novi....Now issues

Ok so just swapped twin 38's for a single 48 Novi and now im having a small problem.

When i come off the throttle completely and hit it hard it hesitates (say 1-2 seconds) before it hits.
If i just keep it blipping and hit there's no problem.
I'm guesing this is an over fueling isuue?

I've done the usual checks without going to mad....I'm 99.9% this is fuel not electrical.
Tank is holding pressure and non return is ok
changed plugs
checked carb over, cleaned and checked jets....all looks ok.
checked down the carb when its running to see if needle is letting fuel through.

I did read a Mikuni trouble shooting guide and it mentioned fitting an extra non return valve in the carb but this was for when you come off WOT to nothing and then having nothing...

Any help from you carb gods would be really greatful as it's not a strong point for me.

sounds like a lean hiccup to me
try lowering popoff
try a bigger low jet

Im not sure on jets and as i didn't set the carb up when it was put on the ski. I've booked it in with my usual mechanic to get sorted next week.....Carbs are not my strong point plus my mechanic has a lake to test on so it's a worthy trip.

why would you say that?
he said if he keeps blipping it, its fine
this is a lean condition when coming off wot and won't hit again as he has explained
trust me... as i have been there with single carb conversions on 62t setups
