Kawasaki 550SX- 750 (SnowWhite)

Starting a build that I wanted to share with you all! Also wanted some input. Open to any tips or tricks to squeeze every last HP out of it. Starting the build with a white 1992 550SX. Here is what Ive got so far

ENGINE
- 750 Big Pin ported cylinder and cases by Erickson Machine and performance. I’ve always gone with group K but wanted to switch it up.
- ADA Girdled Head (26CC 180PSI)
- Dual Mikuni SBN 46MM
- R&D Intake Manifold
- V-Force 3 reeds
- ADA reed Spacers
- Jetinetics Aluminum Flywheel
- Zeeltronic Ignition
- Factory B pipe.. going to try and squeeze the 750 pipe under the hood. If I can’t make it work I’ll use my 650 B pipe.
- Port Matched exhaust manifold
- 550SX TDR water box (haven’t purchased this yet, open to suggestions as I want to make sure I have enough flow for the 750)!
- I am debating on having crank works lighten and balance the crank. From
What I understand if you lighten it then balancing is a must! Im curious if any of you have had that done to your 750 cranks? It’s about $800. How much of a difference does it make?

HANDLING / PUMP
- Black Market innovation 750 pump conversion kit (X2 driveshaft).
- Wax racing ride plate (for 550-750 pump conversions)
- Impros Hooker, im thinking 9/15
-Pro watercraft sponsons front for sure and possibly rear.
- Jet Dynamics Top Loader for a 750 SX
- Cheap trim (X2 Nozzle) have to figure out a cable and lever. Planning to run cable through stock bilge outlet
- Lightened handle pole spring
- Nose brace and handle pole brace

I’ve got almost all the parts ready to go. Should be starting this week. With sponsons and pump conversion. I’ll be sure to share pics! Thanks! Im pumped!

Got the pro watercraft front sponsons installed today! They make installation super easy. Comes with a Nice diagram, silicone, and hardware. Also got the pump conversion done as well. Had to notch the rear of the ski for trim clearance.

How was installing the pump with seal? I really fought with mine (rhaas kit) I am not super happy with how the gasket fit on the bottom side either now that it is installed. I will probably end up filling the gap with some rtv to make sure it doesn't puke water or suck air.

I was actually going to go with the rhass kit but it said out of stock and I didn’t want to wait. This kit uses only silicone, it all fit together very nice / tight and appears to have a great seal... but when I have to take the pump or intake grate off it’s going to suck to clean up the old silicone and reinstall. Looking good!

I also went with the black market pump conversion and it didn’t specify weather or not to use the rubber pump seal. In there video they dont use one. I got mine in with a little cussing, bleeding and beer. Seeems to be working great so far!

I also went with the 9-15 hooker from Impros. I only have 28 minutes on it so far but mine is a rocket! Only difference is I’m running a 701 in mine. I couldn’t get my 650 B pipe to fit no matter what I did! Ended up using a FPP 701 exhaust manifold and a stock 650sx pipe. Going to do the pipe mod this fall! I have a vibration coming from my flywheel(Jetnetics) and hoping I didn’t get a bad one. Like i said it only has 28 minutes on it. Going to the lake today and see if it is the flywheel or a poorly aligned coupler. (Hoping it was the coupler which I think I squared away!)

I’m going to follow this! Feel free to pm me with any questions. Our only difference is the motors…..

Ok that’s good to know, if I have any cavitation I’ll buy a 12 pack and grab the OEM gasket. As of now It’s just installed per there video. Seems like the lip on the pump shoe is to skinny for the gasket. Does yours hang off or did you trim the gasket?

I’ve read some forums on people installing the 650 factory pipe but that’s with a 750. It looks like a crazy tight fit. Im Crossing my fingers I can get the 750 pipe installed but I think I’m dreamin!!

Thought about going with the 701 but I got a 750 for a super good price. Couldn’t say no. Never installed an aluminum flywheel but been reading up on it... cause I’ve heard they can crack and cause problems. Did you lap it? Starting the motor mock up this week hoping I get lucky and everything lined up nicely!

I appreciate it! If I run into any problems I’ll definitely shoot you a message .

If you opt to use the oe gasket, try and knock the corners off the shoe mount with a flap disc and lube it up with some silicone grease. I also found it helpful to "glue" the gasket to the pump with some rtv. Even still, it was a HUGE pain in the ass.
