Kawasaki Sxr or Yamaha Super Jet??

I have a 1990 Kaw. 650 super clean ski , got it for doing a tbathroom tile floor such a good deal took me 2 days to do the work, But anyways i love the ski its super clean stock with i think an upgraded filter and pipe and i never have any probelsmn with it and it gets me out of the hole when throwing it around and subing it but im looking for something better/newer because of my interest in starting to race.

So question is Super jet or Kaw SXR.

I know the SXR has about 90 or so more CC's than the super jet but also weights 100 lbs more than the Super jet. But i llove Kaw reliablility, so if some one could give me some info or reccomendatios ni would appreciate it!!!!

Cool Thanks yea im thinking racing might get too pricy and maybe end up freestyling a lot the thing is i like right by the beach and plan on doing a lot of beach riding soon so maybe the lighter super jet would be better but how is the realiablity of the super jet

My Yamaha's have been the most reliable motors out of everything I've ever owned.

4 yrs ago I had the exact same dilemma as you and finally bought the 06 SXR. I have since sold the Kawi and bought Superjets. I will never look back.

Lol kaw reliability. Each ski has its purpose and suits a specific riding style. For freestyle i like a sj. Feels lighter on the water and pops alot easier. A sj slides more in turns as opposed to carving. but plenty of others swear by the kawi. Its all relative to your riding

If it's stock and well maintained, it's super reliable.

As soon as you start making mods, like with any ski, your reliability goes down.

I've had my stock 650 SJ for 3+ years now and only had a problem cuz water got in the ebox.

Different groups will give you different responses to the same question. Your comment of 'kawi reliability' makes me wonder which group you hail from.

So if I want to do freestyle on SXR ? You taleing me I can't ?
There are lot of guys who do freestyle/freeride on SXR . It's just little bit harder.

Noone saying what you can and can't do.

U can go use a Sea-Doo XP for freestyling if you want. It won't be easy, but you can give it a shot.

So your telling me the sj yamaha will not do well when it comes to racing becuase i might do a little bit of racing in the future........ but also I am by the beach so i plan on doing some beach riding hopefully get a couple barells also how does a ski do when it comes to getting closed out in a barrel and ski gets tossed iun the white water??

Hmmm i am kind of leaning towards the SJ i like the fact thats it lighter more mobile and plus freeriding is free racing = $$$

But my kaw. 650 is a champ!!!
