yea, i know the reason given is carb inlet signal, personally i think it is a conservitave move because you have to lose some carb signal when the stock carbs are true bored. IMO - contrary to Harry Klemm, this would be more so then crankcase inlet signal loss due to porting.... after all the carb venturi has been opened a lot with true bore.
the kawi engineers used it "to improve low end response". not sure what the intent of that statement is... i'd guess they designed it to improve the initial lean spot that can occur from start up or long idle to wot hit.
can't think of any other 2 stroke pwc carb mani that shares or kinda equalizes dual carb circuit.
just trying to wrap it up in my head as to what affect it might have on bottom end - open/closed. since not many of us use radar gun to compile acceleration runs, basically looking for subjective evaluation from someone that ran both set ups. if no response, i'll try to drag post out again after i try. i'd guess stock air box and open passage is better, probably blocked with open FA's.
when looking for bottom.... to close or not to close ....???
thanks for reply Scorn...
when i finish other projects, i think i'll use z force for some rec porting on sxr, heard all kinds of good stuff about limited set ups out of his shop. I'm guessing from your reply that tim doesn't block passage after porting ???
