I got hold of a used cast dasa topend for use with my 5mm stroker crank, the cylinder is setup correctly for 85mm kawi pistons 5mm crank...I am in the process of putting together with new pistons and noticed the old ones that came with the top-end were trimmed by about 8mm off the bottom of the skirt (see pic).....so i dummy assembled the motor (with the used pistons that the topend came with) and turned it over and found at TDC the skirt did not fully cover the exhaust port (see pic)....I have never come across this before, is there a reason why it would be done like this???? I was just going to do the minimal trimming on the kawi pistons required to clear a yami crank ..(like in this post http://www.x-h2o.com/threads/19769-Flat-Top-Piston-Question&p=302689&viewfull=1#post302689 )
