The 26th Annual IJSBA World Finals was held in its home of Lake Havasu City, AZ. At the end of this event, the very popular Wamilton’s/Alphatrade Ramp Jump was held. This is where a rider drives their ski over the ramp for distance.
The final rider to hit the ramp was Kevin Green, of Lebanon, Tennessee. Kevin has been an inspiration to everyone in watercraft racing because of his wonderful spirit and heart. Kevin, as many may not know, lost his legs in an accident when he was a child, but this does not hinder his ability to win and compete with the best in the world.
Kevin was injured on his first (which won @ 92.5 ft) attempt, which ended the World Finals on a sour note. Kevin was flown to Las Vegas to Sunrise Med Center where they did surgery on an exploded L2 vertebra on his spine. They fused the L1 to the L3 and I am happy to report that Kevin is doing well and will be leaving the hospital very soon.
He told me to let ramp jump record holder, Chris MacClugage to watch out, as he will be back for more! Kevin, congratulations on your win and in achieving one of your biggest goals, WINNING AT LAKE HAVASU! I love this sport and the people who make it what it is!
