Knees and Poles *Bloody Photos Warning

This injury was pretty minor in the scheme of things, but wanted to warn people before boom, they opened the thread up to some bloody photos.

I got my knee laid open by the bottom rounded part of my RRP pole on my SXR. Surprised the hell out of me since I've hit my knees on the pole many times. As the video shows, this was just a special time where I happened to slide and have my knee under the pole as the ski caught traction.

So if you were interested in wearing knee pads or the like, these kinds of injuries can easily happen. And the pole isn't even sharp there, it was a blunt force rip.

As per another member's suggestion I am going to try out these on the race skis since regular knee pads fly off and hinder my riding. After an emergency care visit I'm going to at least try them.

Three big ones. The guy said that he didn't want to put in any more to risk them tearing through the skin since it is on a pivot point. I'd tend to agree since I had 13 wee stitches in my hand a few weeks ago and pulled a few through my skin while jet skiing...go figure.

I'll be back riding in hopefully 10 days.

I was just telling my friend I want to hydroturf my hood because I'm tired of hittng my legs on a hard surface and kneepads aren't an option at my age, but those skinny ones looks perfect.

Glad you are OK and it wasn't worse.

How is the padding on those? Any issues with them falling down?
They are really flexible and don't fall down unless you have a bad crash. They run small though, I bought larges.

Might think about getting your knee looked at.
I'm letting it heal before jumping to the doc, if it is just swelling from impact it should go away in time. If not in the next week or so I'll get it looked at. It always hurts from a previous knee surgery so I've learned to live with it.

CarterB blew a knee cap apart on his handpole a few years back, I think I have actually seen a couple in the past years.

jeeZ! yep, I got the set of fox racing ones for christmas. put them on, and took them off before i ever even planed out on the ski..went back up to shore and dumped them in the grass.
those ones you just got look alot better.. cheaper than what I paid too

Yet another part the 'ski that can benefit from a layer of HydroTurf...

It's been 6 weeks now. Was it just a flesh wound or did you do a bit more damage?
