KP handlepole on SXR800, install??s

Hello.
I have no idea how to install my pole spring, either the stock one or stronger one that I bought. Looks like I need to cut the top part that then goes up into the same pole that all the cables go up, anybody experienced this and if so what did you do?

Also, the bottom bracket of the pole when it rotates up, the stock bumper appears to need to be trimmed or remove, what did you do?

PS, this thing is heavier than the stock one, not exactly excited about that.
Thanks

I cut the upper turn off from the spring when I installed my KP on my SXR. I also added an additional pole pad otherwise the pole hit the hood. This is the only picture I have available. I'm not sure if the KP is heavier than stock, probably, but I would never go back to stock after using this setup. It's all around better.

I think I see the big problem I’m having, after seeing yours I think I need to slide the poles back into the bracket more to give me room to work with.
I’ll then cut the turn off the spring.

Did you cut your poles shorter?
Thanks for the info and pictures, that helped a lot.

My SXR is set up as a buoy ski with an 1100 triple in it. So I left the poles at standard length to get me further back in the tray and try to take some weight off the front of the ski. If you require any other pics I can take them tonight.
Before you cut the bend off let me double check my install tonight.

A good pole spring will make the pole feel light. Definitely push the poles back up into the bottom pole bracket. I've had much better luck installing those type poles in pieces vs trying to it preassembled. Get the bottom on first, the run your cables up, the then the poles an finally the top portion. Wait to tighten everything once it's together to make any final adjustments.

That makes lots of sense. Since I need to slide the poles up, I'll disassemble all of it and do as you described. Now that I need to slide them up I'm considering shortening the poles about 1" - 1 1/2".
This should make figuring out how much to trim off the bottom bumper that the bracket hits easier.

Thanks again

I like to make a pole pad out of undermat then turf it and glue it to the hood. You can easily shape the undermat to fit the hood curves for maximum surface contact and adhesion.. I made one for my superfreak that is 6 inches tall and it finally blew off after 2 years glued on and a failed barrel roll where I landed upside down at a 45 degree angle nose first. I can't imagine you'll be doing anything luke that with an sxr.

We have an RRP pole, but it looks kind of the same. We cut the end off the spring.

In this pic it shows the location of the pole bolt and spring position behind the tubes.

On our setup the end of the spring where you cut it off sits under the flexible tubes, it doesn't go into the hose or tubes.

I used a blowsion sxr spring on my superfreak and cut the top as well. Also had to bend the bottom a little as well. It has a xmetal pole which typically uses pinch bolts but I like the pole spring feel over the tight pole.

Curly, I mis-spoke. I re-bent the top of the pole spring and cut the excess off. I used the stock pole stops but did not use the rubber bumper. I took some pics of the steering assembly but did not know what you were specifically looking for.
