Do you think you'd get arrested for jet skiing on a lake/body of water that had NO sign saying "No Boating"? In other words, is it legal to boat if not stated otherwise? There's so many lakes and ponds near the community college I go to, but the closest one that "technically" allows boating is an hour drive away; it'd be nice if I could just drop my ski in one of these small lakes.

I cant tell you how many times I see a body of water and immediately want to just throw my ski in there and ride, whether its on the golf course pond or my neighbors 1/4 acre pond. One day I'm just gonna go for it!

Be courteous, don't be stupid, and people are less likely to complain if you riding. Even if they do complain, a courteous person will most likely only get warned and not arrested. Keep in mind that a little pond near a golf course, college, or office is most likely going to be private property.

I've been thinking the exact same thing as all you guys. Play dumb if anything happens, be nice and friendly (and I'd only ride for an hour, hour and a half, like twice a week). As you said Idok, as long as there's no signs warning against anything, it's up for grabs in my book. Now I just need to make a beach cart....

I would like to point out that we are forced to put up with warning signs on hammers, toys, scissors, plastic bags, etc. etc. because some retard didn't have any common sense. So PLEASE use some common sense when choosing a lake to ride in so we don't have to put up with those awful orange no trespassing signs on every peaceful lake with a nice view.

A small lake could very well be rather contaminated, especially if private. :puke:

I rarely enter water when I can not obtain fairly current water samples from reports; this is wise. You can obtain the latitude/longitude and then contact the county for information.

What I mean, if I find a lake that is clearly meant for recreational purposes (no "no trespassing", or fences, clearly defined parking lot, out house, what ever), and I happen to get lucky and there's no signs saying "no boating". How would it be contaminated? I've never checked for anything about lakes before I went swimming or something, except to not be down stream from the herd.

Maybe I could pay someone to ride on their private lake, like $10 an hour or a day.

I’m not quite sure how water samples works in Colorado Sniffy, but any body of water can be unsafe at various times due to a wide variety of things, natural and unnatural. As for trespassing, I do know that we placed only one sign on our front gate, but there were a few occasions that people accessed via other means (not seeing the sign), and if we happened to visit the property while there, we greeted them with riffles and shotguns in hand as a precaution/deterrent; they did not return. You could start here, but there is probably a better site with county plats designating ownership, zoning, etc...
