large cc - sub: possible?

If you have a ski with a large displacement, say 800 to 1000 cc. Is it still possible to be a nice deep sub? I know it would be best two have two ski, one for flips and rolls and then one just got messing around, subs fountains. Also its dangerous because if you ingest water into the engine it would bend a rod or something. So is it possible to do a nice sub on a high hp boat?

Its all about compression and rod length not really cc size. If you ingest a little water on a 150psi boat vs. ingesting the same amount on a 220psi boat it will be less forgiving.

Possible yes... One thing I've noticed though is subbing becomes more difficult the more hp you have. It's actually easier to sub with more power but harder to control it and ride out. The problem I've found is when you do a prehop on a stock boat, you're good. After a prehop with even a heavily modded motor, you're moving so fast that you're more likely to go flying over the bars if you stab in at too much of an angle.

HAHAHAHA. I did this last year. Complete yard sale. I was literally catapulted. Got a standing ovation from the folks on shore though.

just dont use as much throttle during your pre-hop. And when under water, same thing, just dont pull the throttle as much. You just need a little to keep the ski under control.

I'd be afraid of ruining a very expensive motor with water injestion but there is pictures of another board member doing fountains with a 992 Dasa motor.
