Lightest AM hulls and bare weights?

Been looking at hulls for a while,I realize weight isn't everything when it comes to handling. My question is I cannot seem to get consistant weights on hulls.I've seen people claiming fiberglass and carbon hulls in the high 70's.I've also seen carbon hulls claiming under 60lbs.Are the weights that inconsistant from hull to hull besides reinforcement and flatwater/surf hulls?

Hulls ive been looking at are as follows
Gen 3 bob
Rickter XFS
Vision
Rok
Chan

I might as well be the first to say that one of the builders of a hull on your list has made nothing but enemies lately so do some homework (negative feedback section). wouldn't want to see you go down a similar path. Another one of the hulls on your list has been said to fall apart fairly quickly, although many riders of that same hull say that was only on earlier models. I don't want to point fingers and I don't personally have ANY experience with any after market hulls. I just read horror stories on here weekly. If I had the cash to buy AM I would stick with the biggest brand names who have nearly zero unsatisfied customers.

When you ask about weight it might be inconsistent because what are you asking weight of? With or without hood, with or with out pump shoe, with or without turf and padding. Flatwater or surf.

My carbon Rokr weighed 76 lbs with hood, pole bracket, pump shoe, couch mounts, turf and padding. Flatwater layup

Here's my list if I was going to consider another carbon flatwater hull right now:

XScream DVX
Superfreak Circus
Brawler

Figure out you price range and needs, makes narrowing the search a little easier. Have fun and good luck.

Who wouldn't consider the first two you listed? lol But most people can't spend 8- 10 grand on a hull.

550/440

Maybe I'll get it all the way around NEXT time....

I can't add any info to the weight category, but did check out the Ski Clinic Hurricane hulls out at Parker a few weeks ago. They are super clean and insanely light... like under 50 lbs light. Jr. had his pro hull that was on it's 2nd season of riding, and it didn't have any noticeable stress cracks (I didn't scope it with a magnifying glass, but I was checking it out for quite a while).

I'll look into the first builder you spoke about,2nd builder I'm familiar with the issues on there first gens. Thanks for the advise.

All 3 of those are over $8k

He listed Rickter, so I figured he had money to spend. lol

It's not hugely a money thing.I had 29k cash sitting in my closet 2 months ago really came very close to saying licorice it and buying a new never used rickter visual carbon XFS a guy had in thailland.I'm a novice/beginner i'm assuming.Been riding a few years coming from a motocross background.I have 4 kids and one on the way and were looking to move/buy another house in a few years. So i'm thinking do i really need a really badass hull or just a decent one that wont hold be back like a stocker? Is the money spend granted?

This is what a currently have/know.I like the way my fx1 feels better than my 08 sj.I have a complete WDK 927 setup with his newest pipe design, solas ss pump, stock charging electronics.I like to travel as I ride.My lake house as well as other lakes in my area get really choppy on the weekends.Obviously I know I will not be traveling to far with a 927 and a cart tank.

Questions,I'm a bigger guy.5'11 weight lifter. My weight fluctuates between 205-230.Short ass hull pain to ride, plain off if I need it too?Main advantages/disavantages of different hull lengths and tricks?

Those of you asking yourself. Why not put 927 in 08 sj?Well my woman took it over.lol.I don't mind. Why not put it in the fx1?I didn't ride last year as I was out of town the whole summer. The year before I had a guy redoing my fx1 with 144 pump using tom 21's tray and cavity,After being cut up he never finished.Unfortunately had a heart attack.

So all i all,Should I just buy a starter hull to see how well my skills advance or just start with a bad ass hull?Big sellers for me are I really like the look of a visual carbon hull and the adjustability of adjustable footholds.

Sounds like you already have some good freeride skis. List your objectives (flips, 360's, rolls, etc) There is wealth of knowledge on this site, from guys who have ridden most every hull out there.

Back flips seems to be everyones priorty,Seems to me anyone can backflip a short hull with a big engine if they have the balls to hold on.Not that I don't wanna pull some flips,But I have strong interests in rolls,360's,big air stabs etc.I prefer boat wakes over a setup wake.If it's a weekday and there's no one out i'd rather set up bouys and chase them.I've never been in the surf with a standup,I wish i could it's just hard to get away.

Check out the brawler dude. I'm 6'4 260 lbs and I was so scared i want gonna be able to ride it but i feel so comfortable on that thing. I feel my confidence go up every time I ride. I'm really really looking forward to trying it out in some lake Erie surf soon. Good luck with your hull search

There you go, I'm sure some people could give you input from what you listed. Good luck with your search.
