Super Jet lightweight flywheel

I just bought one and will have it installed in the next week or two, I have heard the gain is decent, less rotating mass equals more brap. Installation is not to bad, you need a wheel puller to get the flywheel off, then the next trick is to torque it back down while keeping the crank from turning. A couple options here, I have heard of people putting rope in the spark plug hole to "stop" the pistons in place, not sure that is the best route. Yamaha also makes a tool to hold the coupler while you torque it, but I think the tool requires you to remove the motor mounts and move the engine forward to get the coupler damper out. I think I am going to try an oil filter wrench to keep the coupler from spinning, not sure if it will work though. You can also buy a flywheel holder tool as well.

JMHO.....stock lightened flywheels are cheap, but still not worth the money. I could not tell a lick of difference running a stocker and lightened stocker back to back.
There was a difference with a RAD flywheel, but certainly not enough to justify the price tag.

Others may have different experiences, but what I described is my own.

I agree 100%

in my opinion you will feel a bored nozzle more than a lightened flywheel but it's just another piece in the puzzle. if you have 15 mods done to your ski they all contribute to that brapp...

If I can't feel it contribute by itself, how is it going to add up?
Besides, if you add up the money for all those 15 little mods you might come up with enough dough for just one major mod that actually does make a big difference. Just because something is cheap doesn't mean it's worth doing.

Again, just my experience.

I tend to agree with the folks above, by itself no... but as part of a larger set of mods then yes...it must play some part. I would not bother doing it without a corresponding set of light couplers on the business end after the major mods like a pipe. I did mine when the engine was apart for a rebuild. I did not see any sense it doing it otherwise.
I used a rope down the cylinder and an air impact on the bolt + a puller- easy a pie (Whatever you do don't feed the rope in through the exhaust port if the motors half apart with no head- it will get wedged in the wall tolerance- Doh!)
