Cool link. I was really close to buying one. I'll hold out for another month and see how yours do before I pull the trigger.

Awesome price, there's a deka dealer right by my house. They have them for a great price as well but I have yet to try a smaller lighter battery, are you running a total loss plus a bilge?

how do these fare for normal(charging flywheel use)? I have not tried a smaller battery yet either. I need to be able to get a ski restarted after a sinking on the beach if need be. Can't be fooling around with a battery that will lose the juice if i crank for a while.

There are a lot of guys running smaller batteries with charging systems but I don't ever remember anyone mentioning anything about getting a sunken ski back to life on one.

yeah the cranking and cranking getting a sunk ski running again gets me nervous about running a smaller/lightweight battery. I know the 16 pound batteries and my jetworks will get my ski going again if need be.

Although I shouldn't have the sunk ski issue this year now that I went to a ratchet strap.

Just keep an old full size battery around just in case. I run ETX-9's in both our skis and they don't last long at all when you need to do any amount of cranking. Jst don't make the same mistake as me and go to a custom battery box for the smaller batteries unless you are packing spare small batteries. My wifes ski had a dead battery last weekend and my spare hadn't shown up yet and we couldn't swap another size in as it didn't fit.

I just ordered an ETX-14 to run with the EPIC. It's the same footprint as the 9 so it fits in my small holder, it's just taller and heavier.

I have always ran a heavy battery, as everyone else in our crew has. I think the extra few pounds is worth the peace of mind when we are 6 miles or so from the ramp riding big surf.

I live on a lake that is 7 miles long. I only ride on about a third of it. Shouldn't be a problem for me as long as it lasts a few hours.
