So basicly today I tried to do what Saki told me to do, Which was to get upside down.. The Lake was nice and flat and I havent mastered making a very big wake for myself yet. So pretty much I think i got the jist down a bit, A little bit of speed my small wake and hop right before my wake go turn into it a little bit then steer back the other way asap and I pretty much laned on my head sevral times and fell off the ski.. So is that really step one???

Man, I just got "step one" down today as well. Kind of scary, but it feels good to get it out of the way. Last few were kind of violent, but nothing like hitting the ground on dirt! I'm pumped and can't wait for full rolls. Good luck! I know I'm going to need it.

Another Question I would assume a little ocean wave would make it alot easier but how much more unsafe?? anything i could do to prevent anything from breaking on my ski??

ANT

Just ride
if your going to do a roll on flatwater or off of a small wave keep low, try to throw you and the ski into the rotation but stay tucked low to the ski and you'll get around pretty quick. Try to keep yourself leaned forward like try to keep your head over the chinpad and you can't lose.

waves is easier, i pulled it first time on a wave but it took me alot longer on flatwater.
i thought i would pull it alot faster but it takes time

Each strap Has 6 holes for screws, I went to boaters world got
12 #10 1 1/4 length stainless steel panhead scerws, put the straps in the postion I wanted marked with chalk. youll need A drill bit A couple of sizes
smaller than the screws you Are gunna use, PREDRILL YOUR HOLES, If you dont they will probly break the fiberglass from being to stressed.then just screw them down. they work great ive used them for A couple of weeks now and ive had no probs at all Good luck let me know how they turn out.

That seems like a bad idea of a way to connect them... screws in fiberglass over a short period of time I can see that ripping out, leaking, and just overall being a bad idea.

That's why I wasn't sure the best way to connect those straps... seems like the right way would be to cut out the turf in that area where they connect and do some type of countersunk "anchor" that you screw into, glass over it or expoy maybe? Either way, it just seemed like a major PITA and I'd wait to install footholds.

just put some silicone down before you drive the screws...ive still pulled out screws but they last awhile

Munkie- why not just continue to ride surf stance? you can do it all that way , just look for Yamsluts post on how he just did his straps( and its surf style) its a good write up even though his ski is yellow....

congrats on getting halfway! I'm there too. we need to hookup sunday and get some schoolin from saki on how to roll it in the surf. last time I tried it I wrenched a bunch of body parts and still have lingering aches and pains( but hey I'm old and have kids so that could be it also) but I am willing to give you some incentive/ competition. I am hoping for some small clean surf for surf riding and something comparable to a big boat wake to roll off of. That shiat in Jan was huge for a first timer.

oh and ace hardware has some black plastic clips and the nylon strap for under10 bucks to make a Hood strap with, and Home depot has some stainless and rope for cheap to make a limiting rope with. may come in handy?
