My brothers and I just started a small dirt bike parts company called GatosBros. Our product line currently consists of machined aluminum parts but we've been getting ready start producing some composite pieces. The first things we would like to have made are fairly simple:
Thats a mud flap I made awhile ago for my CRF on a fiberglass mold. Since then I've made five new aluminum molds for various applications, with a few more to go. They are one sided, meant to be used with a vacuum bagging setup. Here you can see they are in various stages of completion:
These are some of the parts we're reproducing out of the carbon / kevlar and epoxy resin: Pretty straightforwards right?
We're looking for someone / somebody who would be interested in manufacturing these pieces for us, and if everything works out fine, develop a working relationship with for some of our future projects. Figured this would the place to start...
Initial quantities would be relatively low. Somewhere around 10 parts per mold for an initial order. After layup, secondary operations would include trimming the part to correct size, and drilling two small holes for mounting. The parts are fairly small, all less than a foot in length and 6'' wide.
If you are interested in the project, or maybe could point us in the right direction to get this king of work done we would appreciate it.
