Looking for Blaster - questions

So I'm trying to find a waveblaster in Texas for fairly cheap which seems to be a little hard. I don't know a whole lot about these as I've had 2 kawasaki's but no yamahas. I found this add and was wondering if this is a good deal:

93 waveblaster pretty good condition for its age. ive owned for almost 2 years probly put about 30 hours on it.

Mods:
Riva red pipe
Custom seat
Hydro turf
Ocean pro air filter
Oil block off(pre mix)
Riva groovy ride plate

The bad:
Turf is faded
needs new grips
mold on the handlebar pad

Says its comes with a trailer and a cover. Also has a good title.
Says it runs great, probably needs a battery though.

Wants $1200

Is this a good deal? If not what should I pay for something like this?
Should I hold out for one of the twin carb ones?
Thanks in advance and sorry for the newb questions

That is about in the price range for a running blaster.

The "bad" he listed:
Turf is faded
needs new grips
mold on the handlebar pad

All are petty issues.

Make sure it runs, and if possible check the compression. The two cylinders should not be more than 10% different in compression.

Actually he just sent me some pictures and it looks kinda rough. The area where your feet go has a waterline on it like its been sitting outside for a long time. Here's a picture of the engine compartment too. Also, it's been switched to premix. I know that premix is safer, but I switched my last ski over to premix and it was such a PITA having to mix the oil and gas everytime. Plus it smokes a lot if ur not a WOT.

well .... it looks like a 15 yr old ski the pre mix thing -- the reason yours smoked alot was either you mixed it too rich or you wernt jetted right -- keep it as premix espicially with a high reving pipe - have you ridden a b1 before?

Offer him $800..... it's faded to hell, bent handle bars.... looks like it's been beat on and not kept up. Definitely check compression, pump, make sure it runs and starts up easy. Check the rear transom, around pump, around hood pivot, etc. for stress cracks.

If everything checks out it's nothing a little elbow grease can't fix with minimal investment back into it, but why pay more if you don't have to.... low ball and be prepared to walk away.

just to give you a comparison I picked up a 94 with a F/A, FP Limited Pipe, all in better condition and a trailer for $900 a couple of weeks ago.

Yea I already tried to get him to come down on the price and he won't. I might hold out for something in a little better shape. But are those cooling lines the stock setup? It kinda looks like he has dual cooling.

Definitely not a 1200 dollar boat. A lot of the issues appear to be cosmetic, but all that corossion on the head would make me worry. It obviously sat a long time and was not well cared for. Make sure the compression is good, but if he won't budge on the price, I'd pass. What I like to do is grab the amount of cash I want to spend for the ski, then show up with that. Flash the cash, and tell him all you brought is $---. Most people, once they see cash, tend to go a little weak.
