Mag pump to impeller hub space

I haven't set up a pump in years. I pulled a stock stator pump out of my bob and replaced it with a Solas 144 mag. My old pump had an 08+ big hub OEM SJ impeller which I am reusing. The old stator needed a 2mm spacer for the impeller not to contact the veins. On the new pump I left off the spacer and have a .025 gap between the stator and impeller, is this ok? Also, I left the stock long cone on. I have a stubby in my other ski. Any reason to swap these cones? For reference this is paired with a Kawi 750, Coffmans pipe, single 44, milled head and flywheel. Thanks

the small gap between stator and impeller limits slippage on hard acceleration...so never an issue unless you want a softer feel..then open the gap with spacers... ...i.e wave riding

I always try to get the impeller back as possible, this increases efficiency, and reduces slip. A shorter pump cone will increase exit nozzle volume, reducing pump pressure, and increasing thrust. This may be good, or may be bad for you. Depends on your build, set up, impeller, etc.

The Solas pump takes a different cone than the stock one. We have cones if you need.

I would try it with the regular cone first. If it loads too hard, and you need more slip, you can add a short cone later to try.

Ok cool, I'll try as is. I want it to hit as hard as possible on the bottom.
You definately want the shorter cone for solas pump then. The stock solas cone is large and was designed to work with the solas reduction nozzle which has a larger volume than the oem Yamaha red. nozzles. The solas complete pump setups were designed for the higher rpms and speeds when racing, not for lower speeds of freeride.
