so i have a shop class in school so i have 2 hours every day all year with access to a hole bunch of c.a.d. stuff, including a water jet machine, i think like 4 lathes, mills, and drill presses, tig, mig, arc, and gas welding, and a teacher who wants us to come up with our own projects to make. so what all can i do/make with all this!?
here is a list of what i was thinking...
- a turnplate for straight bars for super shortness

- carb spacer plate

- maybe lightening my flywheel on a lathe

- milling my head(how much)

what else can i make/modify?

Back high school when I took a metals class in oh....85 or so, we didn't have any machinery like the kids have nowadays. I remember making some cast stuff, a stainless toolbox, turning some stuff on lathes and milling stuff.......that's about it. I think it would be neat to go take some college metal classes at the local community college. If only I had time. :grumble:

I'll add bore your exit nozzle to the list. I'd do some custom bling bling ODI grip ends with something like initials in it. How about some billet "T's" for connecting water hoses and gas lines. That would be pretty trick.

sweet, i will try to draw up some stuff in class today. i already have a turnpate drawn so that's prolly what i'll be makin first. and how much should i mill my head?

Lowered pole bracket. I just had our shop cut me a couple with the water jet from T 304 ss. Also used the jet to make front exhaust outlet flanges and welded ss. sanitary tube to them to accept the exhaust hose. We also have a polishing department that shines everything up nice and pretty.

You will find that many things are much better bought than spending a few hours to make a 10-20 dollar part.

Rather than re-making a bunch of parts that are already everywhere make some cool one-off stuff. For example, I have an aluminum adapter plate to mount a kawaski exhaust manifold on a yamaha cylinder. Or a billet fuel pump, or billet ends for a stock SJ pole,
