Other methods for connecting wires higher gauge wires?

what do you figure is best way to connect electrical wires for say connecting up bilge pump switch? not meaning for multi-pin type applications. i have always soldered and shrink wrap, but do you figure there is a better way?

i have been using the shrink wrap ones you just heat up with a heat gun, works well , they seal well .... if u want a permanent solution. Otherwise watertight connectors

A bilge pump doesn't draw much current. If you're not willing to solder a connection and then use a good adhesive type shrink wrap, you're best to use a heat shrink/solder seal type of connection like this:

They work well - but they do allow corrosion to occur faster than a traditional soldered joint and good thick adhesive type 3:1 heat shrink.
