Mikuni SBN pop off plate?

Browsing ebay and I have never seen one of these before. Has anyone used one? If you can adjust pop off by turning a screw vs replacing springs it would make tuning much quicker. Assuming it is not a gimmick...

i bought one of those years ago off ebay for my kawi setup. it was very finicky and never made anything easier given the location and lack of ability to see and make the adjustments. it was a neat idea but I found it much more worth while to pull the carb. make the popoff/jetting changes and reinstall... this being said the kawi/kiehin carb only utilized 2 long Allen bolts to remove it.. it was a novel idea but did not make things any better. plus I think putting mechanical pressure against the diaphragm and arm just wasn't its intended design.. this was one I had

A good idea, poorly executed.
Firstly it shouldn't have a solid stud, the thread would have to be way to fine to be able to get enough accuracy in the adjustment. It would need to be turned in such small increments to effectively relieve the spring tension it just wouldn't work. The stud should be replaced with an adjustable tension spring (ball bearing and spring inside a hollow stud, something of that nature). Then you would be able to fit the highest tension spring in the carb for the highest pop off pressure then use the adjuster to effectively bring down the pop off pressure..........thats the way it works in my head anyway.....

Not likely. Chris, a local guy here that owns JRE, just reproduces parts that are no longer offered. That part was available in the 90's but I don't recall who the original manufacturer was. Chris parts out skis under the name Fresh Watercraft and I highly doubt he even knows how to properly tune a carb. I've seen his work and had to fix his mistakes. Sometimes he rebuilds skis for resale and then the customer comes to me to fix it.
