Mod questions stx 1100

I have one 2000 Kawasaki Stx 900 and one 99 Stx 1100. I have a few questions. Does the timing advance mod work for these (Jumping the wire for temp sensor) like the zxi’s?

And second is it worth cutting the center out of the intake grate for a small performance boost?

Any other cheap mods that you would recommend?

Yes and yes. Best mod you can do for these is the dry pipe mod and get a nujet, skat, or solas impeller.
