Modding a SN Pole?

I have an extra SN pole that is cracked on one side near the pivot bolt hole.
I am thinking about shortening it and cutting some weight off of it.
Anybody gone to the effort of modding one of these with good results?

I was thinking about cutting out the "belly" of the pole, replacing it with a thinner skin on the bottom and make it about half as thick as stock. Another idea was some kind of removable conduit for easy access to the cables and wires.

I have an extra SN pole too and was thinking of doing this but didn't know what steps to take, my old pole pivot hole got really big and the pole wobbled around while riding.

Plus no matter what you do with it, it will still be a flimsy pile of junk just waiting to snap in half and do a Vlad the Impaler on you.

A RN pole is a cheaper alternative.

I was thinking of filling in the worn out holes in my pole with West Systems epoxy. Maybe installing stainless sleeves to keep the bushings from eating into the epoxy.
