Mounting 62t 38mm carbs on a 61x dual 38 manifold.

Hey guys, I'm running into multiple issues and I'm now regretting not getting your insight before I purchased parts.. A while ago I bought some jetworks TT modded 38s everything was fine with those on my 62t cases. I have a new build now and I'm suuuuper low on fundage, anyways it's a Xft and it has a 61x/61x. It had a single 44 on it, I figured I'd use those my 38mm jetworks carbs on it so I bought a new protec intake manifold for dual 38s. First issue, the bottom of the carbs where the adapters for the 62t mounting is threaded. Can I drill these out to slide over the studs on the manifold? And the second issue, even if I drill those out to fit over the bolts the spacing between the carbs is to far apart, about 15mm, to slide over the studs. Is there new linkage I have to buy or some way I can make it work?

to clarify ...the pro tec manifold is for 38's and you want to mount dual 44's correct ??

If so I think that's not possible you will need a dual 44 manifold, unless you drill out the carb bottoms that the studs can go thru and you get aftermarket linkage which brings them closer together..if that's even possible ?

First think I did was take the the adapters off the bottom of the carbs to expose the threads you'll eventually have to drill out.

After that I used a 6.5mm drill bit to drill out the treads, then an 8.5mm bit to fit over the studs on the intake manifold.

repeat on the second carb. Now this is where the modding gets really fun. On the front carb where it has the arm that actuates the rear carb I cut the throttle shaft, with a dremel and cut off disks, just to the rear of the arm for the new linkage to slide onto. After you get the arm off you'll realize there's a casting that makes it impossible for the linkage to slide over the arm so I had to file it down just enough.

Now on the rear carb I cut off about 15mm of the shaft, yours may be different because not all the linkage is the same width.

Slide both carbs over the manifold and tighten the linkage up and make sure the throttle is fully shut on the rear carb before you tighten.

I haven't rode on them yet. I'm waiting on gaskets :( but I'll be out tomorrow! I also got a lightened flywheel I'll be installing too! The weather has been wonderful here in California, I never stopped riding through the winter, though the lakes are pretty low.

That's great to hear, I was originally going to upgrade my blaster carbs but I think I'll steal my dual 38's from my 99 Superjet an then upgrade my Superjet carbs to something different...I just need to figure out which ones to get for my Superjet now. Thanks!
