Custom/Hybrid MSD 4272 LED question

So we bought a couple 4272 modules in unknown condition. Luckily, they both spark on the bench. One will not turn the LED on when switch to LED OPERATE, though. The other one will. Was this something common with the 4272 and no big deal for operating it, or is it a sign of imminent death to follow? I understand it will make initial setup a little more challenging, but once you set the timing with a light, there's no more need for that LED.
4272 is a single channel, digital (dip switches on the back) controller that preceded to newer multi channel 42351...

i have the dual channel that has a burnt out LED and has worked great for seasons like that but its frustrating and would be nice to see if they replace just the LED in the brain.
