MSD Enhancer failure mode

Do they burn out like a light bulb and fail to operate completely?
Or do they run poorly/intermittently?

I had one that would spark but the spark was too weak to run (verified by OCD).

Can also have intermittent spark and will cause backfiring.

Mine would lose spark after running a few minutes. Let it sit for a few hours and spark would come back.

All of the above. It can fail 100%, It can have intermittent spark........... its an electronic device.

makes no difference.
I have one that when I pulled it out it was over 10 years old. Never disconnnected battery. Same time frame best friend had been through about 4 of them....... These things are just hit or miss.

I bet if I were to dig this one up and reinstall it, It would still work.

stock ones do go out but usually after many many years of service.
enhancers last for many many years or they die prematurely.
they die way more than stock, which is why a mod stock cdi is more cost effective.
in my experience, I never noticed any significant difference in performance between mod stock or MSD

I liked MSD a lot better when I could get them for under $200. Now that they are pushing $300, I'll just run a modded OEM and advance the Stator by 3 degs.

MSD still fires off much better than OEM though.
