Msd total loss help

So i am having some issue with my Msd TL the past couple weekends. Originally it seemed like the ski was dying every time I landed from a flip or spin. Even soft landings from a small 180 would stall the motor.

Based on some FB feedback I found the “shifty mod” bad. I could start motor. Tap relay and ski would die. Bought a new “shifty mod” and installed. This morning ski started ran good. Tapped relay a few times no issue.

First tank out todsy ski seemed to be fine. Second tank it stated dying again, even stalled on a prehop. After doing some investigating I have noticed I fire ski and red light on msd is on as normal. If i rev motor over about 3/4 throttle light goes out and ski dies. A slight bump of start button while motor is still rotating and light comes back on and it will idle. Any advise is highly appreciated.

I really wish some enterprising soul with a background in electronics would retro engineer theses MSD boxes , there cannot be that much going on inside there, I have only piddled with electronic circuits so I am not the guy .

Yeah that would be nice! I saw a post that mentioned Lee Stone may be making a replacement. I’m going to shoot him a message but not sure if there is any truth to this.

Take a drink every time someone post a thread like this or every time they actually fix their issue ?

If it's the second one there wouldn't be much drinking.

Does the led blink after it shuts off on you?
Is the battery new or known functional?
Did you check all your connections? Is your stop start functioning properly?

I will be checking so more stuff tonight along with disconnecting the start/stop switch to verify it is not the cause. Battery seems to be good but have not tried a different one.

Grounds and power measure .1 ohms

Disconnected start/stop switch, Still dies when reving.

If ski shuts down. Msd light is off, if I choke ski to stall Msd flashes 1 flash per second.

One pickup measures .7 ohms other pickup measures 1.3-1.6 ohms. Checked again hot after ski started stalling one still at .7 maybe .8 other now 1.8/1.9 ohms. Does anyone know what they should measure?

Or make a new CDI/brain that uses all MSD components, just with modern features :) Stay tuned.

That would be my preference, make something to work with what people already have, the flywheels are pretty much not going to go out, the pickups not so much but I personally have never had on fail on me.

Problem is that a 2 point trigger is unaccruate as fck, at 8000rpm a 2 point trigger can be up to 5 degrees of during fast acceleration
