I'm fairly new to this but I’m addicted! I just bought a 90 superjet and already have made several upgrades. I see a lot of people run “back flip” nozzles and would like to try it for myself. I just bought a “cats” from ebay and was wondering how to install this thing. The ski is old so I’m not afraid to make modifications to it and figure out what I like.
One of my questions is regarding the nozzle. It goes up and down (past level). Do I need to weld a stop on it so that it only travels from level to up? If so do I need a spring to hold tension on it or return it to level or will the jet stream do it for me? Also does anyone have pics of their install or links to some?
The system came with a nozzle, cable and lever. I need a thru hull fitting. Do I need anything else besides some skills to use this thing?

Thank you. It was hard work. It's just a 650 but I bought a 701. I'm thinking of group k's "SXR Killer" 760 big bore kit, but I need to do a little more research.
I got that plate and grate (one unit) for cheep and it hooks up very nicely in the surf. I did relize after installing it that it wasn't going to work with the nozzle but untill then it will do.
How does your nozzle work? Does it swing past level in both directions?
How hard is it to install the thru hull?

id use x scream, wdk or lpw for motor package no group k
your next mod should be a fpp
even if you dont have the coin get it comming might be 6 months before they make them
all of my motors are stock with bolt on parts pipes,carbs,heads ect ... but i like the stock reliability and am ok with not as much power as the pros as im no pro!
as for trim systems i think wamilton has the best ive seen!very smooth and easy to pull!
if your new into pwc welcome to a big money pit!

nice square, i did mine black also.

i read a long time a go that you need to buy a drill bit and an extention (or weld one on) to make it long enough to go through. requires a complete pump removal and be careful not to go to far through so not to hit any thing in the engine compartment. seal it really good and install your cable.

don't want to thread jack, but why no group k? just curious.

You don't really need a stop on it, the jet thrust will keep it straight unless you're pulling the lever. The cable will also hold it from flopping down.

I was kind of wondering about the group k thing too?
I found another thread that said you can just use you stock bilge hole to route the cable. Seems that would be the easy way. Was planning on an electric bilge anyway. How would I seal around the cable?
If I do end up drilling a new one I think it would be easier to drill a 3/8" hole in the engine compartment and another on the pump side. That way I won't be drilling blind and they will be where I want them.

the key thing is you have to go all the way through. if you start from one side, then go to the other side and start another, if you don't keep the drill in the same angle the holes will not match up. this is why you need a long drill bit, so the hole is straight through. it is not that far to drill, but it would suck if it was not straight.

Is the bulkhead solid?
I was thinking it was just foam in the middle. After drilling a hole on each side, i could just shove the stainless tubing through the foam.
