I have been looking at the Weeks Brothers carb packout boxes and they are kinda neat, they are also kinda pricey , I am truly a cheap ass at heart and know what works for me so at any point if you disagree with anything said here refer back to this statement , it pretty much covers it.
What you see here is what I was able to put together after being home for about 30 minutes, I still have to get some toolbox foam and make cutouts for some things to go , also my carb parts inventory is way down, I haven't restocked for the coming year just yet.
I have used may plastic sorters for my carb parts over the years , they all have one thing in common , they are plastic and only last a few years before I have to replace them . I have no experience with the Milwaukee packout whatsoever so I can't speak for their durability, I do know they are plastic and cost $50.00 , even if they are UV stable they would still have to survive being bounced around in my truck all year.
I wanted something more durable , I have seen the mini toolboxes from Kobalt and even Harbor freight , these are a lost leader , they don't make anything selling them but it gets you in the store to buy something else, it's metal , it's powder coated and after a few years I bet it will still work just fine so I bought one today .
These have been hard to find lately , especially in decent colors, I would rather have had red, black, blue or green , they have pink , I bought the only purple one in the store because that was my only other choice.
I plan on building my own jet holder out of Aluminum plate drilled and tapped for the jets to screw in and I will add it later on , that plate won't cost me $75.00 , I had some plastic cup dividers from a plastic sorter that fit in the big drawer really nicely , so I used them.
I still have to buy a new Vessel JIS screwdriver ( mine finally broke) and I have to restock it with parts , I have one empty drawer left and I am in a total of $25.00 , the box was $22.00 at Lowes, the Kobalt screwdrivers were about $3.00 each at Mikes Wholesale and of course I already had the popoff gauge .
Apparently there is some mechanism that keeps the drawers closed, it takes a bit of effort to open them , I need a latch to keep the top closed and found that lunchbox latches should fit perfectly , I will order some, I also need to add a handle to the top so I can grab it and go, I will post here when I figure it all out. The screwdrivers and the popoff gauge will fit in the second drawer or in the top of the box without issue.
