My compression is 150 - 150 on 2002 Yamaha Superjet.
Stock Pipe,Stock Head, Stock Dual Carbs, Stock Everything Besides a prop, rideplate, intake grate.
Should I really be running 93 octane in this ski?

Also, my uncle tells me I should be running KLOTZ oil and 93 octane. It gets too pricey to be spending that much money for that oil... Its about 50$ +/- a gallon. So you think tommarow if I fill up with 87 i'll be fine? Or should I gradually move down like do 91 tommarow then the next time 87?

I don't want to cause any detonation...

Also, I have a GP1300R with a milled head at 120 compression... should I also run 93 on this. I can see why I would run 93 on this because I have a EFI, holeshot kit, d-plate, Nothing to crazy.

What do you think?!?

Thanks!

If it makes you feel better, run whatever you want. You only need 87 though, and standard cheap oil will work fine for you as well. Just run whatever Yamaha recommends... they wouldn't recommend it if it was going to break the ski. They would have had to fix it under warranty.

I run Benol though, it's great oil and it smells good.

Well, I've been running that Quicksilver stuff... It says TC-W3, which is almost the same as yamalube if I am not mistaken?

It's all myth... Even today there are lots of people that believe premium is better for engine and will get you better gas mileage. The fact is, premium has less fuel and more additives. Therefore, if your engine doesn't require it due to high compression, then you're not only getting slightly worse gas mileage but you're junking up the engine with all the additives that you don't need.

If you've got a milled head on the GP1300R you might need premium but at 120 psi, I'm having trouble seeing how. I don't see how being a 4 stroke and EFI makes any difference. My jeep is a 4 stroke and has cylinder pressure of 150 psi but it runs 87 octane. I don't know that ski that well and compression ratio may be what you really need to look at if you can find someone that knows that engine.

87 octane and quicksilver is fine for a stock engine as is any TCW-3 rated oil. I use the Pennzoil full synthetic at $23 a gallon. I just get it at Walmart, it runs very clean and is biodegradable. I am running 84.25 bore at 210psi with advanced timing and a MSD enhancer on 110 octane with the full syn Pennzoil for years with zero problems.

Sounds good, i also have run pennzoil... Its really cheap, and I get the same performance with KLOTZ as I do with pennzoil. I guess i'll have to ask the greenhulk guru's about my GP1300R.

IIRC, stock compression on those motors is only like 120ish, with milled heads if you are pulling 120, it's probably time for a top end, or at least a nice quality compression tester to be sure you are getting an accurate reading.

Well, my compression tester is a little bit old. But also, I just put new rings and new pistons in about 1 month ago.

I run 93 in my standups at 175 psi, but the WR500 take regular
150 psi is fine for regular
however, octane goes down over time
so if it is going to sit for a while, use premium
quicksilver :headbang:

you loose, have had a shop full of seadoos this year, ski just want go like it used to. tried this oil, it was cheaper. drained the oil, change plugs and they instantly come back to life

why chance a nice jet ski or expensive motor with a cheap ass oil? ill go along with the pennzoil oil as i seen many people run it with no problems. ive personally blowed motors up with quicksilver in them when i was a lot younger

tmetz, stock motor + run 87 octane and what ever oil you like. I run dino oil only and the one that costs the least as long as it's rated.
If your GPR is running 120 psi with a milled head than you have a problem.
