Hey all --

We just bought an 07 SXR. It has the stock intake grate and ride plate on it. Going to get a TBM ride plate. This will be for riding buoys, carving, so we need it to stay planted in the water and get the best hookup in rough water conditions.

What intake grate do you recommend for that? A number of people have said the stainless steel Skat Trak intake grate.

If you have an opinion and have tried a few different ones, I would like to hear your experience with them.

Thanks!

a skat trak is probably the best bet for just a bolt on and go scenario.

Ive used pretty much every intake grate available for the sxr and they are all a little different but a skat trak works very well for an average user. it will keep the middle/rear of the ski (right before the pump) more sucked to the water than any grate that covers the pump shoe. this allows the ski to sit lower in the water at higher speeds, meaning it feels much more planted.

Skat grate with TBM plate works well, but take a look at the PWR ride plate. That PWR plate doesn't come pop your pump out of the water after deep turns like the TBM does.
