SXR Need Advice >>Pump mods worth doing?

I just purchased a 2008 SXR 800 and want to turn it into a limited ski for buoy riding. I haven't raced for several years and this is my first SXR. I want to change the prop and while I am in there is it worth putting a pump cone on? How about a pump shoe? Should I bore the nozzle?

Thanks

best bang for the buck is going to be a pump stuffer piece (like the r&D afterburner or TBM super pump cone) coupled with a cutback dynafly prop prop and a bored nozzle (81mm or so). a hard to beat combo for not too much coin

if you are wanting to build a full race limited and have the cash to drop then a 140mm skat trak setback magnum pump with a drop nozzle and a dynafly prop is the bees knees. Untouchable setup in the rough race conditions.

on my ltd i did dry pipe , tbm head w drop domes , dynafly prop , tbm pump cone ,rideplate and intake grate and tbm rear sponsons
most peeps run front but i dont like the slow speed handling of the tubbies
novi 48s sitting on rd m16 intake with advent making it spark

Thanks Poor Boy Racing. I have to check tomorrow what pitches the Solas Dynafly impellers come in. I was looking at the pump cones wasn't sure if it was a gimmick item or it actually worked. I will have to order one of those as well. Last item I was looking at was the Jet Dynamics aluminum pump shoe it that a worthwhile investment? I also seen R & D have these little spacers that goes into the stock pump shoe to lessen cavitation. Have you tried either of those?

Thanks

1. get a custom pitch impeller. i am not a fan of the standard impellers that solas offers, but impros can pitch one to suit your needs.

2. the pump cones and pump stuffers are different. be sure to get a pump STUFFER like an R&D afterburner or TBM super cone

3. i wouldnt bother installing an aluminum pump shoe unless you severely damaged your oem pump shoe and need a new one

4. the R&D pump plugs/spacers work well, but you can mimic them by just pulling your pump and just filling in the empty cavities in the pump shoe and pump with silicone. Save yourself the $40

Are you going full race limited, like @vomitspot 's setup? (Dry Pipe, Drop domes, on race fuel, etc) or considering a wet pipe, pump gas, etc? Makes a difference on how you tune your pump. I would figure out how and what my setup was going to be before I started on the pump.

@user_error is right about what works on the pump and the fact that you will probably end up re-pitching any dynafly you buy.

I ran a Solas 140mm pump on my last SXR (wet pipe, 175 psi, pump gas, Advent T3, TBM Charging wheel, Novi modded carbs) and the sweet spot on my Dynafly ended up being at 13/21. The Solas pump worked good, but I couldn't tell much improvement over my stock pump with a TBM stuffer.

the solas pump is a good value at about 1k with a drop nozzle included. A buddy of mine runs one and it works well for him. I have a skat trak 140 setback personally and it is awesome. My gf runs a r&d afterburner cone in her limited and it still works very well.
