Other need racing advice and suggestions

thinking about getting into a little racing and i need advice and pointers. ski is a 94 waveraider 701. this year model stock is 75hp not 70hp. looking to race in a class that allows some mods as ski is not completly stock now. has a grooved rideplate and grate. also has a riva extended steering nozzle.
i have a couple differant a/m heads
msd enhancer
and a dual 44 setup and stock intake that will bolt on in place of the 38's
i have a nujet ss impeller in great shape but have no idea of pitch as its not marked.

any help would be appreciated. any recommendations on parts or mods. and if its just a big waste of time let me know that too. thanks, steve

In all seriousness...that ski is not going to be competitive at all, if I were you I would try and find a waveblaster hull and build up a sport spec boat, than you will at least be starting on even playing ground.

I second that notion.. You have an almost full out sport spec set up for a waveblaster. the conversion would be easy to do and you could sell the waveraider to finish out the build or keep it to pleasure ride. Although vintage class has picked up with teh square nose super jets and sxi's your not seeing as many 440 550 jet skis racing as much. I have yet to see anybody on the East Coast run vintage run about. You would not be competitive in a non aspirated run about class if any 1200 or a 15f showed up. Hope this helps. good luck

I agree with the sport spec class its the best bang for the buck and the most competitive class there is. You could pick up a used blaster for $1500-2000 or a hx for $1000-1500 and have a good chance of winning.

Racing a seadoo HX in sport spec is the cheapest way to start racing with a chance of doing well. Spec rules limit the HX to very little mods, while the blaster is allowed $1000's in mods just to equal the class out.
