Need some engine help

I'm currently installing a girdled head (Ada) and I pull the current head off and see this

Notice the oxidizing inside. Will this cause any problems for me if I just put the head on or should I change the pistons or clean them or something??

Also, does anyone know the tap size for the girdle bolts and the head bolts. I don't wanna run the wrong one through and screw myself.

Thanks

Girdle threads are M10x1.25 and head are M8 x 1.25. Are you talking about the water jacket corrosion? The piston looks like it just had some sand or corrosion that fell off of the head when you pulled it...but it could be deceiving in the oic

If Polly put paper towels or shop rags in the cylinders to keep debri out, take a flat bladed screw driver and start scrapping the cooling jacket walls, get what you can off and blow out with compressed air and continue your build

You may want to consider installing helicoils in that cylinder, the threads look haggard. Lordco will have what you need. Corrosion in the jacket is pretty normal if that boat was in the ocean.

The pistons show almost no wash, I think your jetting is a bit lean.

I would remove the cylinder and inspect the top end. Plus you can inspect the big end bearings on the crank.

And it's much easier to clean up that cylinder on the bench.
